Your Role (High level):  

As the Architecture Operations Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the operational aspects of McKissack's architectural studio. Your expertise in project management, financial acumen, and collaborative skills will contribute to the success of our projects and team. You will be focused on the management of operations for the architectural studio including overall financial performance, project budgets/schedules, and staff allocations. You will be coordinating regularly with studio leaders on project pursuits, client relationship management, document quality control, and staff development/hiring.

Who Reports to You: Architecture Project Managers; Project Architects; Architectural Designers

Where You Work: Washington. DC

Your Role (Responsibilities): 

Financial Oversight:

• Manage project budgets, ensuring financial alignment with organizational goals.

• Conduct financial analysis in coordination with Senior Leadership.

• Interpret financial documents and solve complex financial problems.

Project Coordination:

• Oversee project schedules, ensuring timely delivery.

• Evaluate change orders and assess their impact.

• Collaborate with clients and regulatory agencies effectively.

Consultant Management:

• Coordinate the work of consultants involved in architectural projects.

• Foster effective collaboration among project stakeholders.

Quality Assurance:

• Review and analyze designs, plans, and specifications.

• Ensure adherence to quality standards and best practices.

Team Leadership:

• Supervise and plan the work of technical and professional team members.

• Coordinate efforts with external design firms.

Software Utilization:

• Leverage Autodesk Revit, Microsoft Office Suite, and other relevant business software tools.

What We NEED You to Have: 

• Bachelor's degree in architecture, planning, construction management, or a related field.

• A minimum of 15 years of AEC industry experience.

• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple project budgets and schedules.

• Knowledge of financial terms, principles, and the ability to calculate figures (percentages, discounts, averages) in coordination with accounting staff.

• Strong analytical and quantitative abilities.

• Proficiency in Deltek VantagePoint or similar financial management software.

• Ability to effectively interact with clients, and regulatory agencies, and manage multiple/simultaneous projects.

• Demonstrated ability to coordinate the work of consultants.

• Ability to review, analyze, and make recommendations regarding designs, plans, and specifications.

• Proficiency in supervising design team workload, as well as coordinating efforts with outside design firms.

• Proficiency in AutoDesk Revit, Microsoft Office Suite, and other relevant business software tools.

• Experience in document quality control review and best practices.
